Chatmeter helps retailers make a distinct impact in revenue by identifying several areas in their online presence that drive customers to choose their stores over competitors. Their integrated local visibility rank tracker allows clients to measure ROI using the most complete local presence management platform in the world.





The Problem

Tackling the Redesign

The existing Workflow system utilized incredible technology, yet was unorganized with minimal functionality, resulting in lack of adoption by customers. The tool needed an upgrade to streamline all dashboard activity into one cohesive task management system, allowing clients to coordinate, manage and track all the work their team did together, while empowering them to react quickly and boost their brand's reputation.

To help determine the specific problem we were trying to solve, user stories were created for various tasks, as well as user journeys and personas to evoke empathy. As different admin users would have different needs within the Workflow tool, we created 5 unique personas to accurately represent each user type.

Manage Tasks

The current structure displays a tabular list of auto-generated tasks one can complete within the dashboard, all of which are generic and not specific to a user’s brand or business goals. Tasks are lacking any assignment, priority or status, making tracking and managing prioritization difficult.

Reporting

While the existing tool did not include built-in reporting functionality, extensive feedback from clients led to this feature request, which would provide powerful insight to managers, allowing them to easily monitor and manage their team’s workload and productivity as a whole.


Social Media

The current tool auto-generates generic tasks, suggesting that users create social posts, yet they still have to leave the site and take action in external social media channels, rather than from within the dashboard itself. While it’s highly beneficial to encourage social interaction, this process results in excessive clicking, multiple tabs and time lost. To simplify this flow, managing social media needs to be streamlined into one cohesive tool.

Response Time

Presently, there is no way to determine whether a new task has been generated or assigned. With the fast-paced nature of today's world, it’s imperative that users respond quickly to reviews, social media comments and manage local listings surrounding their brand. Real-time alerts would allow users to monitor and grow their business, while creating peace of mind that their team is always in control and ahead of the game.

Analyzing the Trends

The discovery phase also included a competitor analysis of various task management platforms, which were compared for design patterns and common trends. The findings were then examined and applied as an appropriate design treatment for the redesign of the tool.

Wireframing

From Sketching to Sketch

Ideations were sketched out and moved into Sketch for wireframing. Once a potential solution had been established, these were converted to clickable prototypes to determine proper flow, as well as identity any missing gaps in the design.

The new design now caters to the four primary tasks of the Workflow tool: Manage Tasks, Reporting, Social Media, as well as increasing Response Time. Its full integration with the remainder of the dashboard allows users to consolidate tools and save time, making this one of the most powerful tools on the platform.
